Doug's Interactive Fiction Page

I've only recently started to learn Inform. As always, I've got a load of ideas but as yet I'm lacking the skills to implement them. Armed with my Designers Manual I'm gradually getting to grips with things.

Play Now! (Save/Restore will not work. Please be patient while it loads.)

Release 3, Serial Number 010924

"You are a master thief and you've just broken into one of many properties owned by Jefferson Smith, the fifteenth wealthiest person in England. All you have to do is load up your swag bag with valuables and get to your getaway car. Should be simple..."

I figured the best way to learn the workings of Inform was to actually knuckle down and write something. This little adventure is the result. The puzzles are pretty simple, and there's nothing complicated about the plot as such, but hopefully it might provide a few moments of fun.

I would really appreciate any feedback, especially suggestions for improvements and enhancements that'll force me to get my head around Inform.

Thanks to Curt Siffert, Neil Cerutti, Kai Roos and Brent VanFossen for their help and advice.

I've had so much psitive feedback about Burglar and the possibilities for further development it's motivated me into drastically improving the game and developing it further.

Work in Progress:

  • More realistic NPCs
  • Revised puzzles
  • Lots more sneaking about!
